Indigenous Roots, Sustainable Paths

Terra Madre Nigeria 2025, themed “Indigenous Roots, Sustainable Paths,” will be held on 12–13 December as the first official Terra Madre in the country. The two-day programme combines education, advocacy, and celebration. Day one will feature the Teachers’ Agricultural Science Summit, engaging teachers and students on agriculture, agroecology, biodiversity, and sustainability, alongside a school garden competition. The Slow Food Cooks’ Alliance of Nigeria will also be introduced through an exhibition stand showcasing indigenous foods and announcing the Indigenous Recipe Book Project. Day two will celebrate with the official launch of the Cooks’ Alliance, cook-offs, panel sessions, cultural displays, and exhibitions, while also awarding the winners of the school competition. Terra Madre Nigeria will unite farmers, cooks, educators, students, artisans, and food enthusiasts to promote biodiversity, indigenous knowledge, and sustainable food futures.
