Celebrate Eating Locally
Terra Madre Day is Slow Food’s global day of celebration and action for food that is good, clean, and fair for all.
Held every year on December 10, it brings together a network of farmers, fishers, Indigenous communities, cooks, activists, students, and producers who are working to preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems.
Born from the belief that food is deeply tied to culture, health, and the environment, Terra Madre Day is a moment to honor the people and communities behind our food with garden and farm visits, communal meals, educational activities, and cultural celebrations.

In a world full of uncertainty, this day reminds us that every action counts. Every time we gather to share food, stories, and traditions, we can choose to stand beside those who nourish us and protect communities, nature, and cultures—our shared future.
Everyone can be part of this movement. Let’s get together and celebrate the people and places behind our food.
Let’s show the world that when we act together, we nourish hope—and we cultivate change.
