On December 10, Valmiermuiža will celebrate Terra Madre Day with a culinary workshop exploring local food and 18th-century culinary heritage. Guided by culinary heritage enthusiast Indra Vīlistere, participants will recreate recipes from “Tā pirmā pavāru grāmata, no vāces grāmatām pārtulkota” (“The First Cookbook, Translated from German Cookbooks”), printed in Rubene in 1795. We will prepare and taste historical “zostes” – rich sauces served with vegetables and boiled tongue – and rediscover local ingredients through historical recipes.
