Local Banana Diversity for Sustainable Food Future

This event celebrates the diversity of local banana varieties in Yogyakarta through a community workshop, culinary demonstrations, local food tasting, and a mini-exhibition. Students, food artisans, and the Slow Food community will come together to promote the values of good, clean, and fair food while strengthening local food sustainability and entrepreneurship.Terra Madre Day is a global celebration initiated by Slow Food to promote food that is good, clean, and fair. It is held every year on December 10 as a collective action of food communities around the world. Yogyakarta is richly endowed with food biodiversity, including various local banana cultivars that are increasingly marginalized by modern food commodities. The utilization of bananas in culinary innovation needs to be continuously encouraged to strengthen local food resilience and ensure environmental sustainability.
